Gifts for someone with a Sony WH-1000XM5 (WH-1000XM5, WH1000XM5/B, WH1000XM5/S)
- Fitting Sony WH-1000XM5 oval ear pads, a different shape from the XM4 pad
- Ear cushions Soft fit leather, oval, XM5 only
- Audio jack 3.5 mm on the left cup
- Charging port USB-C
Sony puts a folding carry case and a short 3.5 mm cable in the box, so neither is a gift. The XM5 cup is a different shape from the XM4 and the XM6, so pads and covers do not swap between them.

Dekoni Audio
Choice Suede Replacement Earpads for Sony WH-1000XM5
$59.99 at Dekoni Audio
Made for this model
What it adds: Thicker memory foam in vegan suede, which takes the heat out of a long session and rebuilds the seal the noise cancelling depends on.
Why it fits: Dekoni tools these pads to the oval WH-1000XM5 cup, and the stock pads on that model flake at the seams years before the headphones are worn out.
How we checked the fit

Strauss & Wagner
Silicone Earpad Covers for Sony WH-1000XM5
$19.99 at Audio46
Made for this model
What it adds: Washable covers that stretch over the pads the headphones came with, so sweat and hand cream never reach the leather.
Why it fits: Strauss and Wagner cut these to the WH-1000XM5 pad so they sit flat without changing its shape, which a cover made for another Sony model will not do.

Brainwavz
Coiled Replacement Audio Cable for Sony WH-1000X Headphones
$16.99 at Brainwavz
Made for this model
What it adds: A coiled lead that stretches to five metres, where the cable in the box is a short straight one meant for a plane tray.
Why it fits: Brainwavz lists the WH-1000XM5 first among the Sony models this lead is built for, and its plug matches the 3.5 mm socket on that left cup.
Sony already includes a short cable, so this is the longer one for a desk, not a first cable.
